Getting around:

The city's excellent Metro network is the easiest way to get around with stops at all the places you’d want to go. It connects Newcastle airport with both Newcastle and Gateshead city centres as well as destinations further afield. Newcastle also has an extensive bus network (which includes Quaylink electric buses), ferry service and numerous taxi ranks so there is a great selection of transport to get from bar to bar. The weather in Newcastle is notoriously cold in the winter so why walk when someone else can drive you!

 
History and Culture:

Geordies are a fiercely independent bunch, tied together by history, adversity and recognised dialect, the closest language to 1500-year-old Anglo-Saxon left in England. The Geordies are closely knit bunch but fantastically hospitable wanting to show everyone a glimpse of what a great thing they have in the north of England. The natives are raised and subsequently abandoned by coal and steel, Newcastle has matured into an elegant city of grace and culture, with its excellent new art galleries, magnificent concert hall and its growing number of fine restaurants, choice hotels and bars. The city is always developing and is a great place to be and party in!

Eating and Drinking:

It’s by the river Tyne that most of Newcastle’s renaissance –here you’ll find a plethora of waterside bars and restaurants offering a wide range of cuisine to suit any wallet. Try Brasserie Black Door, a stylish restaurant inside the Biscuit Factory art gallery, or the amazing Sunday lunch at Jesmond Dene House’s restaurant, then stroll it off in the tranquillity of the lush wooded Dene.

Nightlife:

Newcastle is easily one of the most established nights out in the UK. With a great selection of drinking holes a group will never be stuck for choice. The selection ranges from the local pub to a trendy wine bar and everything in between. The student population of nearly 60,000 provides a young energetic edge to the city. Midweek benders are the norm with many bars and clubs offering great deals to attract groups of thirsty punters. A night out on the town is at the heart of so many visits to the city, and the energy you’ll find is so large that it borders on irresponsible……. 
 
Sport:

The Geordies love their sport, this engrained in their collectiveness. Both the rugby at Kingston Park and the football at St James Park provide a great entertainment venue to provide some substance between your booze filled jollies up and down the high street.
