Overview:
Two 18 hole heathland courses with stunning views over the City of Edinburgh and the Firth Of Forth. “With the exception of the Old Course at St. Andrews, the No.1 course is probably the best public course in Scotland.” (Business A.M. 09/05/02) The No 1 course is truly the most magnificent course in Edinburgh. Set high above the Capital, the course commands panoramic views across the whole of Edinburgh.

It is a course steeped in the history of the game having been a test piece for James Braid and also the American, Tommy Armour in the 1910's.
The golf itself is set amongst some of the most fearsome gorse rough and spectacular tee shots to beautifully kept and true greens. Wayward hots are punished, but straight drives are prized with hard fought Birdies and Pars. It plays to all of its 5390 yards and you would be rewarded coming away with a par of 70.

Requirements:
No handicap is required for this course, although as with all decent courses, you will be expected to be of a reasonable standard.

There's no better way to relax than a round of golf so get the Pringle sweater out of the wardrobe, slip on your plus fours and head out onto the links for 9/18 holes. Whether you're a single-figure handicapper or don't know a golf club from a nightclub you're bound to have a great time.

The picturesque River Ore runs alongside the 2nd and 8th and dissects the 3rd fairway, there's a pond guarding the 7th green, so if you're a bit erratic on the tee bring plenty of balls! Proof of ability is required to play so if you have a handicap certificate, bring it with you.

A fantastic way to spend a day at leisure, Golf is a great activity for a day when breaking into a sweat is not on the agenda.

Set on the shores of the River Forth in the north of the city, this course has some wonderful views of the estuary and on a clear day you can see across the water to Cramond Island and Fife.

The course is 6281 yards long with a par of 71. The course is undulating and parkland in nature, the fairways being long and expansive, although wayward shots can be left wanting. The beautiful nature of the course makes playing this a wonderful golfing experience for all abilities.

Clubs can be hired on the day for £16 a set.

Whichever one you're feeling, you'll be more than catered for here. Scottish golf is good golf.

Format:
Just turn up and play - it's as simple as that. Tee times can be booked in advance so you won't be hanging around in the clubhouse for an eternity whilst the members jump the queue. Clubs and trolleys can be hired, you don't need a handicap to play and there is a relaxed dress code, so you won't be thrown off the course half way through your round if one of your group is wearing the wrong colour shirt. After you've sunk your final putt you can head back to the 19th hole for a well earned drink.
