OVERVIEW:
Come one, come all to Deva Victrix! Or, if you’re not a Roman from AD79, Chester! Situated in the heart of Cheshire, Chester offers all the delights of a traditionally British city – Georgian buildings, walks along city walls, historical re-enactments, and of course, some of the finest drinking establishments in the world. Chester is well set-up to offer a range of different activities and venues for stag parties and hen nights, whether it’s a relaxed experience you’re after, or a rip-roaring stag weekend with your mates!

GETTING AROUND:
Chester has a comprehensive series of taxi ranks dotted throughout the city, most of which operate on a 24-hour basis – there aren’t many other options for travel in Chester, apart from renting a car for the weekend – but then, hiring a car on a stag weekend is usually a pretty bad idea, seeing as you’re likely to have a blood/alcohol ratio that’d get people drunk by standing next to you! We’d let the cabbies do the driving if we were you!

• Try and catch the raft race on the River Dee!

HISTORY:
Chester is what you’d call a ‘vintage’ city – it’s steeped in ancient heritage, with Roman, Norman and Georgian influences moulding the architecture of the town into a mix of the ancient and the modern. Originally founded as a Roman fort, the city is proud of its roman heritage, and hosts a Roman races day at the the centrally-located racecourse to celebrate this ancient tie. However, in recent years, it’s become a nightlife hotspot in recent years, with the addition of Cruise and Level Two, two nightclubs that feature live DJ sets from some of the best DJs in the country, until the wee hours – perfect for a Chester stag party!

NIGHTLIFE:
Chester features many different types of nightlife, as you would imagine from such an historic city – there are traditional British pubs that have stood the test of time, building up a local reputation and following, to the more modern Amphitheatre bar, who host DJs, live music nights and comedy nights to name a few! There’s a large selection of wine bars if that happens to be your tipple of choice, all within the busy city centre! Overall, you’ve got an extensive selection of venues to ensure that wherever you go, your Chester stag do will be a roaring success, and leave you wanting more!

You’ll be spoilt for choice for food in Chester, with traditional pub grub, local ingredients and international cuisine, from a wide range of classy establishments in the city centre. There are plenty of spots to relax for a long lunch after a big stag or hen night, or you could also try the multitude of specialist deli restaurants and cafes offering the finest local produce that’ll tantalise your tastebuds, and keep your Chester stag party energised and ready for a massive weekend!
