The West Country is stereotypically known for it's 'ooh arrr' breed of Farmers, drinking copious amounts of home-brewed Cider, 'moy traactor', and - well - who could forget the Wurzels? In celebration of this sub-culture of the western world, we present to you - the West Country Games! So much for challenging stereotypes - it's time to embrace them!
You and your group will head over to the heart of the countryside to engage in a series of 'It's a Knockout' style events, all with a west country twist! Let your farmer and farmgirl hosts take you around the following activities:
The Cider Run - All you have to do is place a cider glass on one of three trays set up along the runway in front of you. Sounds easy, but not when you're attached to a bungee cord. Well, we wouldn't want to give you an easy ride would we? The further away you get the glass, the more points you score!
'Vicky Pollard Handbags' - Think an epic battle of wits. Except you're wearing 'Bubbles DeVere' naked fat suits, and you're walloping your opponent with a handbag rather than your fists. Think jobcentre, arguing in the queue, but with two scantily clad really fat women. Ugh. In a true one-on-one battle, those with the most direct handbag thumps on their opponent will win with a ring out!
Pitchfork duel - Back in the day, Farmers used to settle disputes over trivial things such as who got the last pasty in the gentlemanly sport of pitchfork dueling. Whoever didn't die from fatal stab wounds got the pasty, and a lengthy life sentence! Luckily, society has become much more tolerant in the modern world - now, these pitchfork duels are more reminiscent of gladiators - two platforms, two 'contenderrrrrs', and two inflatable pitchforks. Mmm. Much less stabby.
Welly Wanging - A traditional village event, each contestant takes it in turns to lob a welly boot into a series of tyres 5, 10 and 15 metres away points are awarded for the most accurate shots!
Wurzel Knockout - The Wurzels have had it coming for years - now's your chance to dish out some watery justice - you'll be armed to the teeth with tennis balls, and a huge catapult, which attaches to your feet, and you aim by lying down with your legs in the air. You'll get the most points for hitting the wurzel-themed mannequin furthest away from the launch zone!
Tractor Tyre Rolling - Time to muck in with the lads and get your tractor tyre from one end of the course to the other! A silly dance, then over the finish line! Time is of the essence though, there's points at stake!
Farmer's Shower - The stag will be sat on a chair below an ice-cold bucket of water and asked three impossibly difficult questions by their group - incorrect answers will result in the bucket being tipped more and more - three questions wrong, and it's an early bath for this stag!
West Country Pub Skittles - This is real bowling - you won't find any sissy curveballs down here! This is real west country skittles, with a wooden alley as your lanes, and a set of wooden skittles ready to be decimated by your eager hand! Most skittles knocked down gain the most points!
Mangold Danglin' - Much like old English bar skittles, this is the stag's chance for revenge! The group will be positioned in a semi-circle, standing on cider kegs, on one leg. Then, the stag will have the chance to fire a sack of 'taters from a huge pole to try and knock the unsuspecting group off their lofty cider-based perches!
Morning Session - 10:30am Arrival, 11:15am Games
Afternoon Session - 1:30pm Arrival, 2pm Games
- Once the games are done, you'll be able to mosey on over to the farm Cafe and buy yourselves food and drink to replenish the energy ready for the rest of your weekend!
- Duration is 2-3 hours approx
- Please note this activity is seasonal, and will begin running again in the last weekend of March 2013.
Overview With an emphasis on quality and the joy found in hurtling across tarmac a few inches from the floor, this site offers some of the most exciting karting around. Run and designed by professionals, this is as close you will come to the thrill of real F1 racing, only without all the money, fame and beautiful women! Format Le Mans Race Format The race is conducted in a 75 minute non-stop endurance format in the style of Le Mans. You will be split into teams and the team that completes the most laps at the end of the session is the winner. There are around 8 karts on the track at any one time and teams are tasked with choosing how long each driver spends on the circuit. It's all about strategy, pit stops and teamwork. Alternative Race Format On the rare occasions that there are not enough drivers to run the Le Mans Race you will have exclusive use of the track. The alternative race will be a 'Mini Grand Prix' - this replacement format will not compromise your driving time. You will be alerted in advance if this is the case. Duration - Event last 2.5 hours with briefing - At least 30 mins racing time per driver Notes - Race not necessarily exclusive - Each member of the group will have to purchase a balaclava on site for £3.50 - Food and drinks available on site
Why limit yourself to just one event when you can enjoy a thrilling multi-activity day? Choose any 3 of the following events (1, 2 or 4 activity combos also available; please ask for details):
Enjoy the mud and thunder of a thrilling quad biking session. If you like your activities rough and ready then this will be right up your dirt track. This is no leisurely trek through the woodlands - this is a 550m sports track with cambered bends to rag your quad around!
The quads are hefty 125cc Yamaha Breezes which are a step up from the ones on offer at most activity centres. Only real men can handle one of these so if you have any weaklings in your group you had better book them a double archery session.
After being given a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the quads under the watchful eyes of the instructors, you'll be taken on an obstacle filled safari along the challenging half mile course which features tight hairpins, tabletops and more bumps than an acne-ridden teenager's face.
Put your foot down and burn rubber in the beast of all buggies. With a 620cc engine and lightweight chassis, the buggies are capable of reaching a blistering 50mph in under 6 seconds. There are no gears to worry about so you can concentrate on hitting the racing line. The specially built course incorporates slaloms, chicanes and hairpins which will challenge even the most competent of drivers, so go hell for leather and push the karts to their eye-watering limit.
Each competitor will have plenty of practise laps to get to grips with the kart. There will be two karts on the track at one time, with a staggered start so that you have plenty of clear track ahead of you. Finally you will race in a pursuit, with the fastest times of the session going through to a final.
If the only experience you've got of archers is listening to Radio 4 on a Sunday morning, it's about time you tested your mettle at Robin Hood's favourite sport. You can hark back to a time when the bow and arrow was the most feared weapon in the world, and good archers were so feared that if they were captured during battle they would frequently have their fingers chopped off.
Under the tuition of experienced archers, you'll be let loose with a light but powerful long bow and hopefully by the end of the session you'll be piercing the bull's eye with regularity.
Blindfolded 4x4 Driving:
You may have been blind drunk before but you're unlikely to have been blind in charge of a Land Rover. You'll be behind the wheel of a rugged 4x4, doing your best to avoid a series of challenging obstacles whilst trying to decipher the instruction given by your back-seat driving friends.
If you find driving around town in a Fiat Panda tricky, prepare for a rough ride. Just remember: if your mates start screaming it's probably time to slam on the brakes.
With unique handlebar steering, these 6 wheel drive ex-military vehicles are like tanks with minds of their own. Once you've mastered the controls, all you have to do is point and drive. SuperCats are capable of driving virtually anywhere - rivers, roads, 45 degree inclines. You name it, it can handle it. Used by the British Military in harsh climates to transport supplies and traverse extreme terrain, these are great fun to play with.
Clay Pigeon Shooting:
Clay pigeon shooting used to be associated with posh old duffers in tweed jackets, but you don't need a Land Rover and a plummy voice to enjoy a session on the shooting range. This is a brilliant activity to get your competitive juices flowing, so expect lots of banter and plenty of sledging as everyone vies to be their group's 'Top Gun'.
Under the instruction of expert marksmen you'll be pumped full of top tips and shown how to handle the 12 bore shotgun. Clays will be fired from several different traps, ranging from the simple which will sit up and beg to be shot, through to more demanding which will speed off at a rate of knots.
By the end of the session hopefully you should be nailing the clays more often than not. Each person will shoot 14 targets.
If all that drinking the night before has sapped your energy and you're just too damn lazy to feel the strain of bow and arrows on your exhausted pint lifting arm, then crossbows are the option for you. Crossbows are basically guns with arrows instead of bullets. With a draw force far in excess of what can be achieved with a regular bow, you'll get the satisfaction of seeing that target well and truly nailed.
Fancy going head to head and battling for alpha male supremacy with one of your fiercest group rivals? We couldn't recommend anything more apt than racing with uncharted vehicles that require skill, co-ordination and teeth-gritting determination. We have just the vehicles for you: hovercrafts. Racing head to head around a slalom course with 360 turns, two 50 foot water straights (providing there's enough water to fill these in the heights of summer!) and thrills a plenty, these amphibious vehicles will sort out which of the guys just talk a lot of air pressure and who floats above the rest.
- Allow 3.5 hours on site for this event. Exact driving and shooting times for individuals will vary according to the size of the group.
- Lunch is available for £5pp (must book in advance)
- Paintball is also available on site. Please ask for details.
- You may be split into groups for each activity.
- This site is based on a farm and gets muddy when wet. Wear old clothes and shoes.
OverviewThis excellent track is 350m long and consists of a double chicane, a long downhill straight and a sweeping right hander where the amount throttle you dare give it will decide the outcome. Your weapon of choice: a 200cc Stratos kart, capable of speeds in excess of 50 mph. The Endurance Race FormatAfter a full safety instruction participants will be split into separate teams. With between 4 and 8 karts on the track at any one time, each team member will have 30 minutes to complete as many laps as they can. The winning team will be those who complete the most laps, also presented with post race bubbly and a commemorative plaque.Duration:2-3 hours, depending on group size. Sprint FormatFollowing a short practice session, up to 8 drivers will be on the course at the same time for a fast and furious race over 90 laps. The winner will be the speed demon who completes the full 90 laps first.Duration:Approximately 1.5 hours, depending on group size.
Notes- Endurance race: Please note that your race may not be exclusive if your group comprises less than 15 drivers.- Sprint format: This event can have up to 8 drivers. This race gives drivers exclusive use of the track.- Hot and cold drinks are available on site.- Races will continue regardless of weather conditions as the track features floodlights.

A male stripper at your hen party? So 2008. Many brides-to-be are shunning the pre-wedding tradition of the disrobing, fake fireman in favour of life-drawing classes with a very handsome and very naked young chap to doodle.
Combine the drawing with drinks and hilarity to guarantee a massive one for your hen party (no pun intended).
One male model and a tutor. In some cases they will be the same person
The classes are held at various venues around the City Centre. Some venues are licensed bars and some aren't. Where there isn't a bar, groups will be able to bring their own drinks.
Overview:A treasure hunt is excellent fun if you are looking for something entertaining to do during the day which will get all your party involved and working together. We can arrange pre-set treasure hunts through all the UK's major towns, which involve approximately 40 questions, the answers of which are gained as you walk along your route through some of the most scenic and interesting parts of the town. A treasure hunt is a great way of getting to know the city and also find out some interesting information that you would never have guessed unless you had taken part!Format:You will need to appoint one of your member as 'hunt master'. They will decide how to split up the group into teams and will hold the answers to the questions. The routes are circular, so you will always end up at your start point and it is best if you arrange a set finish time when all the teams have to be back at the start point to hand in their answers. It's recommended for the group leader to then take all the group to a nearby bar, where you can read out the answers, mark off the score cards (this is best done by getting teams to swap question papers and score while the hunt master reads out the answers) and then distribute any prizes (or penalties!) the hunt master has set for the occasion. What’s Included:- Personalised pack (please let us know the stag/hen's name)- 5 printed clue sets (suitable for up to 40 people)- Approximately 40 questions per clue set, following a pre-set route.- 1 set of answers for the hunt organiser.Duration:The treasure hunts will take approximately 2 hours to complete and are designed to be undertaken on foot.
Overview:Choose a city, grab your thinking caps, tighten the laces on your sneakers and brush off last night's hangover - it's treasure hunt time. The quick-thinking and energetic lead the way whilst the dim and out-of-breath trail behind like dead wood. This exciting urban puzzle will have you scratching your heads and recruiting your collective mystery solving skills to beat the other teams in a race against the clock.
This isn't your run-of-the-mill, pen and paper treasure hunt. No, no. We wouldn't insult you with anything but the latest and best. Utilising text message technology and scratch cards, this is the most comprehensive, organised and up-to-date treasure hunt there is, pummelling the competitors into the ground with its worldwide experience. And of course is wouldn't be a Stag or Hen Do without a little drinking thrown in for good measure.Format:The group will need to divide themselves up into teams of 3-5 participants, with each team receiving a ‘Team Pack'.Self run, you choose the order in which you complete the clues in 6 coloured zones. The treasure hunt question will occupy you between pubs, the pub based question will lead you to a particular pub to reveal some information and the three pub quiz questions will give you something to test your brains whilst you have a drink! The only rule is that you must get a picture of yourselves drinking in the pubs. The text messaging technology allows the teams to enter the game, name their team, record their finish time and receive notification of the winning team all via a mobile phone. You'll scratch off blocks corresponding to your answers on the scratch cards provided, finally revealing an alpha-numerical code which you'll text in to find out if you were successful or if you'll need to try again. Sound complicated? Far from it, this is the smoothest running treasure hunt we've ever seen. Meeting back at the agreed finishing venue you'll meet up with the other teams to find out who was best and worst and sort out the Columbos from the Magoos.Notes:- Groups of 5-10 receive 2 packs / Groups of 10-15 receive 3 packs / Groups of 15-20 receive 4 packs and so on...- For those expecting to be worse for wear or who would rather leave the drinking for later, the drinking element can be removed.- Entry to the venues on the crawl is subject to sobriety, and at the discretion of the venue staff.- Each team will need a fully charged mobile phone to use for texting. - The text messaging feature is free-to-use for UK mobile phones in the UK. - Suitable footwear and clothing is advised.

Robin Hood was cool (no, not the Kevin Costner version) and William Tell was only a Granny Smith away from lodging an arrow through his son's noggin. With heroes like this in England's rich history who wouldn't want to pick up a bow and arrow, take aim and shoot 2 foot wide of the target to the heckling jeers of their compadres. With steady handedness a prerequisite, those who’ve had a heavy one the night before will be pulling their arrows from the dirt.
Luckily you'll have competition standard bows to use and instructors to help you to get to grips with them so you might just nail that bullseye. After a short practice it's competition time with the victor doubtlessly thrusting his bow skyward in jubilation, cheering and grunting like a Neanderthal who's just floored a Sabretooth on the hunt.
The refreshing taste of a crisp, cold cider has become much loved nationwide. Over recent years there's been a boom in the varieties of cider on offer and the drink's popularity has rocketed. Embrace our new found love of the alcoholic apple tipple with a boozy day of quality cider tasting.
Tasters have their own recording sheet upon which are already listed the cider notes, cider type, and strength. The 'blind' cider tasting begins with cider number 1 on each table and it's up to you and your mates to try and match the taste to the correct notes. You'll get a half pint of cider for each person per round. Your table will have lots of tasty bites on it to make sure you can line your stomach throughout the day.
The jugs keep coming for 8 rounds and are similarly tasted and recorded until you've polished off 4 pints in total. At the end the correct answers are given and the ciders unveiled. How many have you got right compared with your friends? There is a prize for the taster with the most right out of the 8 ciders - a bottle of special reserve cider!
- 4 pints of cider
- Food (breads, cheeses, salad, sausages, fingerfood and dips)
- The chance to win a specialty bottle of cider in the 'Ultimate Quiz'
- Approx 2 hours but relaxed and run at your own drinking pace
