Overview:
Bude is a fantastic location for the quieter folk among us. If you are looking for a complete release then Bude in southern Cornwall is perfect for you and your group. The location is completely dependant on its beach to attract tourism. For Bude’s sake it is a good thing that their beach is fantastic as there is very little else here!
Getting around:
Bude is extremely small so walking should be fine to get yourself around. You’re only real other option is a car or bicycle as there is very little in terms of public transport on offer.
Must See/Must Do

History and Culture
In the past Bude has been important as a harbour and as a source of sand, rich in lime carbonate, for fertilizer in other parts of the country. In the Victorian era the popularity of the beach meant a railway line was extended to the town in 1898, but the entire branch was shut down in the 60s. Now its industry relies mainly on tourism and it is known as a surfing destination with Phil Vickery growing up in its neighborhood you’re bound to find someone willing to speak about the latest front row dilemmas.
Nightlife:
By day, Life's a Beach is a popular cafe at Summerleaze, but by night it’s a lively bistro. Or else stick with a traditional pub like The Carriers Inn. If you have a willing sober driver, head a few miles south for The Old Wainhouse Inn.
Eating & Drinking:
The Life's a Beach cafe at Summerleaze is a must for beach-side dining day or night. The Falcon Inn is one of the rare few pubs actually in Bude, for most you'll have to drive to surrounding areas. Elements, between Bude and Widemouth Bay is popular, as is The Countryman 15 miles out on on Bude-Launceston Road.
