Budapest activity weekends
Budapest, a diverse mix of eastern and western cultures (often referred to as the "Paris of the East"), is one of the most beautiful and intriguing capitals in the world. It is composed of two main parts: on the hilly west side is historic Buda, whilst Pest is the city's cosmopolitan centre of shops, restaurants, markets and nightlife.
Budapest isn't such a 'touristy' destination, despite being bigger and more diverse than both Prague and Talinn. With 80p pints and the average meal weighing in at under a fiver, you can't go wrong!

Fantastic place with great bars and atmosphere. The scams are all over the place and caution is needed, especially with taxi drivers and bars over charging....they need to clamp down on the taxi companies....we were caught out twice

Quick Overview:
There’s a reason 2.3 million people a year visit Budapest – it’s a perfect mix of eastern and western cultures in an ancient city turned cosmopolitan cultural center. Straddling both banks of the Danube River, Budapest has it all whether your stag party is looking for local pubs, stellar dance clubs, diverse cuisine, thermal spas or museums and historic sites.
In a Nutshell:
• Population – 3.2 million
• The city covers 525 square kilometers
• Budapest became a single city on both sides of the Danube River in 1873 when the west bank Buda unified with the east bank Pest.
• Location of 80 thermal springs and the world’s largest thermal water cave system
• Ranked by Forbes Magazine as Europe’s 7th most idyllic place to live
Daytime Activities:
Budapest has so much to offer you couldn’t possibly cover it all in a single stag weekend. Take a ride on the Millennium Underground Railway; it’s the second oldest subway system in the world. What better way to enjoy a stag party weekend in Budapest than to do as the Romans did? The abundance of thermal spas in the area – many of which are still in operation and open to the public – is what first brought Romans to the region. There are many parks and outdoor activities available on four of the seven islands located on the Danube. Probably the most notable is Margaret Island where dance clubs, swimming pools, bicycling tracks and other options are available.
Nightlife:
Budapest has been called 'Paris of the East', due to its sophisticated city life that includes a robust after-dark scene. In a city with Budapest’s size, diversity and youthful population, there is little guesswork needed to find a great night out on your stag do . Of particular note are the beer gardens among the terraces of District VII and Margaret Island. There are also a number of open-air dance clubs lining the Danube that are well-known and attract large crowds. Budapest also has a rich theatre and performing arts scene for those with high-brow interests.
Eating:
Dining is a major social pastime in Budapest. On your stag party in Budapest you will find great variety in available cuisine including Middle Eastern and Asian. Try the local Magyar cuisine. Traditional Hungarian food is crafted around meats, seasonal vegetables, fruits, fresh bread, cheeses and honey. Recipes are based on centuries-old traditions, spicing and preparation methods.
Climate:
Budapest – with about 2,000 hours of sunshine per year – is perfect for a stag party. Spring and summer is quite beautiful and comfortable in Budapest. The serious cold doesn’t set in until the middle of December.
Costs:
There are exceptions to every rule but, in general, goods and services in Budapest on your stag party weekend will cost about half of what similarly would be offered in the UK.
Getting Around:
On your stag party weekend in Budapest, there will be easy availability of buses, trolleybuses, trams, suburban railway lines, the Metro, a boat service, a cogwheel railway, a funicular, and a chairlift called Libego.
