Brighton’s traffic is no good news if you are intending to drive around yourself but the positive part is that you can certainly rely on the well-connected buses and trains to get to your destinations on time. The taxis are also easily available, however they are definitely more costly compared to other cities and towns in England. The best recommendation to getting your way around will still be on foot as you can cover many of the major tourist attractions simply by walking. If you want something different, you can also try cycling as the city is built for cyclists with its many specially designated cycling pavements.
Must Do / Must See:
• Get to the nudist beach at Brighton beach
• Visit the Sea Life Centre which is a life-size aquarium with a walkthrough tunnel
• Enjoy a hippy time at The North Laine
• Shop for an antique at The Lanes
• Join in the Brighton Pride festival if you are visiting the city in the last week of July
• Spend your afternoon watching greyhound racing
History and Culture:
Brighton was certainly a sleepy seaside town until Dr. Richard Russell introduced the use of sea water and sea bathing to his patients in the mid of 18th Century. Another element that sped up the city’s growth was when an extravagant Regency building was erected by the Prince of Wales in Brighton. Today many reminders of the Victorian era can still be seen around the city such as the West Pier and the Palace Pier. In the 19th century, the advent of railways propelled Brighton into prosperity. Because of its proximity to London, many tourists are also making day trips to Brighton. Another eye-catching element in Brighton is its status as the gay capital of Britain where it houses a leading GLBT community in the country.
Nightlife:
With more than 300 watering holes in the city, Brighton has an extensive list to offer for your stag do. You can choose from the many live music venues and swanky bars and pubs bustling with youthful revellers all year round. If you want something nearer to the sea, go to one of the super clubs at the water front and get yourself doused in liquor while shaking your bodies to the beat. Fancy some real ales? Then head down to The Evening Star on Surrey Street where you have a huge selection of ales and ciders that come with a wallet-friendly price tag. Another alternative is to proceed to the north of Kemp Town if you want to spend your stag night chilling with your buddies in a pub crawl against a cyclorama of Victorian-looking streets.
Eating & Drinking:
The food in Brighton is hearty and comes in all sort of cuisine you can think of. To fuel your stag crew before you lads hit the town, you can feast like a king at the Englishs where stylish décor meets with quality seafood or simply order delicious takeaways from many eateries ranging from Spanish to Indian to Thai. These takeaway eateries close late and offer you a hearty hangover cure after your wild stag night out in Brighton.
