Bournemouth, once saddled with the reputation of a blue-rinse paradise, is in the process of reinventing itself as a kind of south coast Ibiza. With a host of belting nightclubs and a multitude of cool and trendy bars to go to beforehand, they are all within easy walking distance of each other. Bournemouth's nightlife is top drawer. Bournemouth also boasts some of the best activity centres in the country nearby and, with long sandy beaches to recover on come Sunday, Bournemouth is a no brainer for any stag group.

History and Culture:

The first seaside villas in Bournemouth were built around 1812 and the teeny town experienced its first population boom after appearing in a book of English spas in 1841.  In 1885 the first spa hotel was built, offering 'healing' waters not found anywhere else in England, and the seaside city has gone from strength to strength since then. A favoured retreat for British writers, the town has been immortalised in works from Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles, to Roald Dahl's The Witches. A number of famous authors have made Bournemouth their home for periods of time, including Robert Louis Stevenson and Oscar Wilde. Frankenstein author Mary Shelley is buried at St Peter's church.

Nightlife:

The south coast party capital has a bubbly effervescent atmosphere. With a large selection of bars and clubs to suit everyone’s tastes. The beer will flow and the dance moves will impress as you carve the night away. Early bars to take note are, Bar-me with its cheap drinks and dancing poles to impress and Yates with its multiple floors and friendly atmosphere. After if you’re looking to push on and enter into the club scene then a good choice would be Chilliwhites, Lava Ignite or Toko all of which are in a row. Allowing groups to move at will between to suit there preference. If you looking for something with a bit of something special, V is a converted church all with trendy tunes and late licenses to see you into the early hours. Let hope confession isn’t needed after this booze fuelled extravaganza!

Eating & Drinking:

To soak up all that booze you’re going to need a good feed! To couple with Bournemouth’s watering holes they have a good scattering of restaurants, with bar food available in most of the drinking venues this is the easy choice. However, for a more refined palate Charminster and Boscombe can cater as well as West Beach for local seafood delicacies and steak specialties.
